The grounds and space
This beautiful Spanish farmhouse is situated on 80 acres of land planted with olive groves and Spanish oak – and has no immediate neighbours.
We’ll be in a beautiful rustic and comfortable 150 year-old building situated in a walled enclosure. There’s a courtyard garden, with a back terrace, dining areas with sunset views over the hills, and a large (20m) pool to enjoy. All bedrooms have an en-suite (some have balconies), with daily housekeeping. The house is naturally ventilated with small fans in each room.
Every effort is made to make the Cortijo as eco-friendly as possible - water is sourced from its own well and there are solar panels to heat the water.
Please always contact me if you have any specific requests or questions.

The Yoga
We will have a fully-equipped studio with high-quality mats, bolsters, blocks and meditation cushions. It has large windows facing toward the sunrise, overlooking woodland and hills toward the Sierra de Loja. In addition. There is also an outdoor yoga platform (with sail shade).
Morning classes will be more energetic (flow-like/vinyasa) and evening classes will be a mixture of slow and yin-like practices, with a more meditative quality.
All classes will include asana (posture/movement focused), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, and, if you know me well you know I love to weave in some yoga philosophy chat. Don’t worry, you don’t need to know all of these yoga terms to practice. If you know my style and come to my classes you’ll know how I teach.
It’s important to me that you get the most you can from this experience, so I’m also very happy to take requests on types of classes. I’m thinking of adding some extra time to discuss specific postures (and ‘alignment’) with a focus on pose variations (and linking this to the philosophy), as we don’t usually have time to cover these aspects in regular classes.
My classes are designed so that everyone in the group will be able to join, whether new or experienced, it’s a practice for all to enjoy without the angst of having to do certain things or be in a certain way. Do you!

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

WHAT PEOPLE SAY 〰️
“The perfect mix of rest and activity in a beautiful location! Marisse took extra care to tailor the experience to each of us - from the yoga to the massages to the Granada day trip! The cortijo itself is stunning, with a large pool and two yoga areas (indoor and outdoor, both with amazing views!). It is run by a super friendly family who took care of all of us and cooked delicious meals. I thoroughly recommend the retreat to anyone seeking some peace and tranquility, regardless of your level of yoga.”
- Klara
“I cannot explain how amazing it was!!! I went with my partner and we didn't know what to expect as we'd never done a yoga retreat before but we had THE BEST time. Everything was so well organised from start to finish. Marisse's teaching style is so friendly and relaxed whilst also being challenging and she is a fountain of knowledge! The location was beyond beautiful and the food was sooo delicious I can't stop talking about it. To top it all off, we met some lovely people and shared many an evening relaxing playing board games and drinking wine/tea. Cannot wait for the next one!!”
- Izzy
“Marisse does everything to make us feel at ease and cater to any of our needs (little day trips, yoga requests, organising massages). I am not an expert yogi and went there ‘solo’, and had the best time!”
- Laurie
“I had the best week, everything was so well organised but relaxed. Marisse really set the tone with everyone mixing, getting to know each other. The yoga was just fantastic - thank you for being such a great teacher and making all the sessions super inclusive and accessible to everyone - depending on their experience, body or how they were feeling that day”
